Didem Gurdur Broo

I am very excited to share with you that I will be back at Cambridge just in a few weeks’ time. I was invited to be one of the panelist as part of Symposium 2023, Technologies: Uncertainty, ethics, and change, which is sponsored by the Philomathia Social Sciences Programme at the University of Cambridge. Our panel will discuss “The Highest Stakes: Environmental Uncertainty.”

We have great convenors, Dr Adrian Lerner Patron and Dr Katarzyna Ciezlik.

And the panelists are:

  • Dr Kasia Paprocki (London School of Economics and Political Science)
  • Yours truly Dr Didem Gurdur Broo (Uppsala University/Stanford University)
  • Dr Johan Gardebo (Cambridge University)
  • Dr Sumit Vij (Wageningen University and Research)

It is a hybrid event (online and in-person) and registration is free and open to all (but on a first come, first served basis). Organizers are also offering a limited number of bursaries of up to 200 GBP to reimburse some of the costs of travel for graduate students coming from outside the Cambridge area. So if you want to go to Cambridge don’t miss this chance and apply for these bursaries.

I love this event because there will be multidisciplinary discussions around technology, the environment, and the future. This is a golden opportunity for me to hear comments from my peers who have social sciences backgrounds. If you are around, please come by and say hi!

On a personal note, it will be so lovely to be back at Cambridge. I am looking forward to introducing Idun to my friends and colleagues and catching up!

We are also starting a new exciting project with colleagues from Cambridge on digital twins and interoperability. Hopefully, I will get to see my fellow Cantabs more often while contributing to a change!
